Running the world - Jarvis Cocker

This song is on the soundtrack for Children of Men. Excellent film, excellent soundtrack. I haven't bothered posting the lyrics. You'll see why.

Randomblings

Yes I am aware I haven't posted much lately. I've been busy, so sue me. But that doesn't mean I've stopped loving you all. I have neither the time nor the energy for an actual post, but I thought I would drop some brain leavins here on the Interweb.
  • When did Pizza Hut start using a Jessica Simpson female impersonator for their ads? And more specifically, why did they pick one that is so haggard looking? I'm sure I could go to a drag show and get a better looking Jessica Simpson impersonator. Not that I pick up Jessica Simpson impersonators.
  • Did Snickers honestly think nobody would complain about their ad?
  • The Marine is out on DVD. This film is like a slow descent into madness. There are moments when you're not sure whether what you just saw or heard actually happened, simply because they're so bizarre. By the end of the film, I was actually mistrusting my own senses, sure that I could not have just watched the film I just did.
  • I haven't watched a single episode of TNA Impact since they signed Vince Russo. And judging by the spoilers, recaps, and reviews I have read, I'm not missing a thing.
  • It's hot in Topeka.
  • Sunday afternoons without football suck. Although, as my friend Daubs was good enough to point out, its only a few weeks until pitchers and catchers report. And the draft is coming.
  • If you're not watching 30 Rock, I'll cut you. Seriously. I am going to start looking into people's windows at 9:30 pm on Thursdays, and if their television isn't on NBC, there will be blood. Oh yes, there will be blood. I will be taping 30 Rock at home.
  • I really hate the commercials for Axe and Tag stink lotions. I can't wait till they find out ten years from now that those products cause cancer.
  • I like fishy crackers!
  • Watching new episodes of The Simpsons is like watching your grandfather slowly dying in the hospital. You remember the good times, and there are moments of lucidity when everything seems okay, but most of the time, you just sit there, watching something you once loved slowly wasting away.
  • I really hope that Grammy voters refuse to vote for Eddie Murphy because of Norbit.
  • If you've thought about reading Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series, don't. Not that it's a bad fantasy series, but you don't want to give up that much of your life to a set of books.
  • Lost is dead to me. I give up. I'm sick and tired of the show treating its fans like garbage. I hope Sawyer and Kate fall into a live volcano, and Hurley eats the rest of the survivors.
  • Friday Night Lights, on the other hand, gives my Wednesdays a brief shining moment of glory. This is the best show on television right now.
  • Not only does The Comedy Network have one of the worst television station websites out there, but they seem genuinely disinterested in using their website to promote viewership. Everytime people ask me why I'm ashamed to be a Canadian, I can point to The Comedy Network. Or really, any of the Bell Globemedia websites. Just pitiful.
  • Why does a black MacBook cost $200 more than a white MacBook? $200 for an extra 4G of hard drive space? Doesn't seem quite right.

That's really all I have for now. I promise to make more of an effort to post regularly. I've also got a blog for a course I'm taking this semester on video games. You can find it at gamesofempire.blogspot.com. Its really only just links to different stories about video games for my classmates, but feel free to check it out.

Stop Escalation

We didn't get this ad in Canada. But then again, I don't think much of America got it either. Worst of all, I worry that those who saw it don't get it either.
